How we evaluate CGM devices

Every CGM device and service reviewed on GlucoseForge is evaluated against six core criteria. Our ratings reflect an overall score out of 10 based on these weighted factors:

01
Sensor accuracy (MARD)
Mean Absolute Relative Difference from published clinical studies and FDA submission data. Lower MARD = higher accuracy.
02
Ease of use
Sensor application process, wear comfort, warmup time, calibration requirements, and day-to-day reliability based on user-reported data.
03
App experience
Data visualization quality, insight depth, food logging, wearables integration, alert customization, and iOS/Android parity.
04
Cost & value
Monthly sensor cost, subscription fees where applicable, insurance coverage availability, and overall value relative to alternatives.
05
Compatibility
Smartphone compatibility, smartwatch integration, AID system compatibility for prescription devices, and third-party app support.
06
Intended use fit
How well the device serves its stated purpose — clinical diabetes management, OTC wellness monitoring, or CGM-as-a-service subscription.

Editorial independence

Our commitment

No manufacturer, advertiser, or affiliate partner pays to influence GlucoseForge's editorial content, product ratings, or recommendations. Affiliate relationships are established after editorial decisions are made — not before. If we earn a commission when you buy through our links, that relationship does not change our assessment of a product. Products we rate poorly may still carry affiliate links. Products we rate highly may have no affiliate relationship at all.

Affiliate relationships

GlucoseForge is reader-supported. Some links on this site are affiliate links — meaning we may earn a commission if you purchase through them, at no extra cost to you. We participate in the Amazon Associates program and work with select affiliate networks including Impact.com.

Affiliate links do not affect our ratings, rankings, or editorial content. We disclose affiliate relationships on every page where they exist with the note: "GlucoseForge is reader-supported. When you purchase through links on this page, we may earn an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you."

Sources & research process

GlucoseForge editorial content is based on:

Published clinical research — we reference peer-reviewed studies from PubMed, Diabetes Care, NEJM, and other journals. Key clinical claims are linked to primary sources.

FDA clearance and submission data — device accuracy claims are sourced from FDA 510(k) clearance documents and manufacturers' clinical data where available.

Manufacturer documentation — device specifications, compatibility lists, and pricing are sourced from official manufacturer websites and updated when changes occur.

Clinical guidelines — recommendations from the American Diabetes Association (ADA), CDC, and other authoritative bodies inform context around glucose targets and CGM use.

Update & review policy

CGM technology and pricing change frequently. GlucoseForge reviews articles for accuracy when:

— A new device generation launches
— Pricing changes significantly
— Clinical guidance relevant to our content is updated
— A reader reports a factual error

Each article displays the date it was last reviewed. Articles are marked "Last reviewed [Month Year]" in the byline.
